Early Life & Musical Awakening
-
Born on April 28, 1985, into a culturally rich and arts-loving Egyptian family, Sary Hany was exposed early to a variety of musical styles.

-
At age nine, Sary picked up a guitar and played a riff after only a few minutes. That day, his family gifted him his first guitar, and within a week he was taking lessons; by ten, he was performing live in front of sizeable audiences.

-
At fourteen, he secured his first electric guitar and founded a rock band "4 Stix" a year later.

-
During his mid-teens, Sary’s band “Digla” became a fixture in local talent shows, nightclubs, and even recorded a music video that aired on national television.
Education & Career Shift
-
Initially pursuing architectural engineering at university, Sary continued dabbling in music on the side. Yet by the end of his second year, it became clear that architecture was not the career he had in mind, and that music was his true calling. His commitment to composition and music production soon outweighed his academic pursuits, leading him to leave college and follow his passion full-time. He later caught up to his studies and got himself a Batchelor Degree in Architecture.
Commercial Breakthrough
-
In 2005 at age twenty, Sary's lifelong dedication paid off when he was recommended to compose music for a Coca‑Cola advertisement his first major commercial success. This exposure triggered a steady flow of requests from leading brands like Pepsi, Vodafone, Cadbury, Lamborghini, Lipton, Du Telecom, MTC Telecom, and the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism.

-
His music for MTC Telecom in 2012 earned him multiple honors MENA Crystal, Dubai Lynx, and New York Festivals awards while a 2014 campaign for Du Telecom garnered him a prestigious Cannes Lions award.
Film & TV Scoring
-
Exploring his passion for storytelling through sound, Sary entered Egyptian TV scoring in 2010, and branched into films shortly thereafter.

-
His notable credits include the 2016 German documentary Gaza Surf Club, co-directed by Philip Gnadt and Mickey Yamine and featured at the Toronto International Film Festival.

-
In 2017, he scored the blockbuster El‑Khaliyyah, directed by Tarek El Erian and starring Ahmed Ezz and Amina Khalil; Key 66 took charge of the entire post-production soundtrack including Foley, ADR, and mixing.

-
Sary also scored other major productions such as Abu Omar Al Masry (2018), Farq Khebra (2021), and a slate of series from 2020 to 2025, including 30th of March, Bimbo, Voy! Voy! Voy!, Tagheir Gaw, El Atawla, Lunch Box, Restart, Mamlaket El Harir, and Qalby W Moftaho.
Entrepreneurship: Key 66 Productions
-
In November 2014, Sary partnered with his brother Hudz and wife Ingy to found Key 66 Productions, Egypt’s first full-service professional music production house. Designed with acoustically optimised rooms and top-notch gear, Key 66 offers composing, recording, sound design, Foley, ADR, mixing, and mastering all under one roof.

-
That same year, the studio produced the debut album of the now-highly successful band Sharmoofers, further establishing its reputation in the region.
Artistic Style & Philosophy
-
Sary is a true multi‑instrumentalist who brings a rare depth to his scores he doesn’t just compose, he plays and records most of the instruments himself, layering guitars, keyboards, percussion, strings, and more to bring his sonic vision to life.

-
His inventive approach combines electronic styles like electro, house, and dubstep alongside lush orchestral textures, creating music that bridges global trends and authentic regional traditions rooted in his Egyptian heritage. This combination of craftsmanship, openness, and creative versatility defines his evolving musical voice.

-
Despite this impressive range, Sary approaches every project with grounded humility. As he puts it:

“Every day, I know more about music, but I also figure out that I know nothing at all.”
